Here at SJCA excellence in education is more than just a goal—it’s a tradition. This year, we are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own as Louise Meyer, a longtime Chemistry teacher at SJCA, has been named a 2025 Catholic Herald Teacher of the Year!

A Legacy of Science and Faith

Since February 17, 1999, Ms. Meyer has been a fixture in the SJCA science department, bringing the world of chemical equations, reactions, and scientific discovery to life for her students. For over 25 years, she has inspired young minds, fostering a passion for science and guiding students toward academic and personal success.

More than just a teacher, Ms. Meyer has been a mentor, a role model, and a source of encouragement for countless students. Whether helping a struggling student master the Periodic Table, leading an engaging lab experiment, or preparing her classes for AP Chemistry exams, she has always gone above and beyond to ensure her students thrive.

A Devoted Catholic Educator

Ms. Meyer is not only a dedicated educator but also a faithful servant of the Catholic mission. Her deep love for the Lord is evident in everything she does, and she models that faith to her students every single day. For over 25 years, she has started every single class with a prayer, instilling the importance of faith in daily life and fostering a spiritual foundation for her students. Her commitment to integrating Catholic values into education has made a profound impact on the SJCA community, ensuring that students grow both academically and spiritually under her guidance.

Recognizing a Remarkable Educator

The Catholic Herald Teacher of the Year Award is a prestigious honor given to educators who exemplify the mission of Catholic education—dedication to faith, learning, and community. Ms. Meyer embodies all of these qualities and more. Her ability to integrate faith into scientific learning, her unwavering support of her students, and her commitment to excellence make her an educator worthy of this recognition.

She will be formally honored at the Catholic Schools Dinner on Tuesday, March 11, at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, where she will be celebrated alongside other exceptional Catholic educators.
